Family pools, now empty
Castle Hill, Baulkham Hills, West Pennant Hills, Cherrybrook and Glenhaven were built for families, and the pool was part of the package. Thirty or forty years later, the children have gone, the pool is costing money, and the backyard could be doing something else.
What Hills removals usually involve
Larger concrete pools — often 8 to 12 metres, with decent depth.
Good access — wide driveways and side yards on many blocks.
Sloping yards — retaining walls, steps and terraces around the pool.
Extensive surrounds — paving, pergolas, glass fencing, decks.
Knock-down-rebuilds — where the pool goes along with the house.
Newer north-west estates

If the pool area is going under a new house, extension or granny flat, full removal with compacted backfill is the sensible choice.

Are Hills District pool removals easier?
Often. Many Hills blocks have wide driveways or side access to the backyard, which lets a proper excavator and tipper get close. Sloping yards, retaining walls and large pools can still make individual jobs complex.
Should I remove the pool before a knock-down-rebuild?
If the new design does not include the pool, it is usually removed as part of the demolition stage so the builder starts on engineered ground. Full removal is normally the right method for that.
What about pools on sloping Hills blocks?
Pools in West Pennant Hills, Cherrybrook and Glenhaven are often held up by retaining walls or cut into slopes. Removing them can affect those walls, so they are assessed before work.
Do you remove pools in Kellyville and Rouse Hill?
Yes, including newer fibreglass and concrete pools in the north-west estates, where access is often tight on smaller lots.
