Pool Removal on Sydney's North Shore

North Shore pools sit in mature gardens, beside protected trees and heritage houses. The removal has to be precise — and the garden has to survive it.

Pool removal, Pool Removal on Sydney's North Shore

Mature gardens, careful work

Wahroonga, Turramurra, Pymble, Gordon, Killara, Lindfield, Roseville, Chatswood, Mosman and Cremorne share big trees, established gardens, sandstone and period houses. Pools here were often built into those landscapes decades ago.

What North Shore removals involve

Protected trees. Root zones under surrounds and access routes. Machines stay out of protected areas.

Natural stone. Sandstone coping, paving and walls, often worth saving.

Heritage settings. Some properties need extra care with approvals.

Garden access. Ground protection, smaller equipment, careful routes.

Neighbours. Large houses close to shared boundaries and high expectations of tidiness.

Salvage

Old sandstone coping and pavers can be lifted and stacked for reuse in the new landscape. See surrounds.

Method

Where a lawn or garden replaces the pool, a fill-in can work. Where a pavilion, studio or extension might follow, full removal is better.

Councils

Ku-ring-gai Council, Willoughby City Council, North Sydney Council, Mosman Council and Lane Cove Council each have their own tree and heritage controls. See approvals.

FAQs

Questions people ask before they commit

Will pool removal damage trees on my North Shore property?

It can if not planned. North Shore councils protect established trees, and root zones often extend under pool surrounds. Machine access routes, stockpiles and excavation are planned to stay outside protected zones, and arborist advice is sought where roots are affected.

Can sandstone coping be kept?

Often. Natural sandstone coping and pavers from older North Shore pools can be carefully lifted and reused in the new landscape or sold. Salvage is agreed and priced before work.

Are heritage properties different?

Pools at heritage items or in heritage conservation areas may need more careful approval assessment, particularly if levels, walls or visible structures change. This is confirmed before work.

What about access through established gardens?

Access routes are chosen to protect lawns, garden beds and paths, with ground protection mats where machines travel. Sometimes smaller equipment is used purely to protect the garden.
